"MY philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best in this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment."
So, you have a vision of what you want your future to look like, you have goals you have set yourself to succeed and you are also working hard on turning all your obstacles into opportunity, so how do you keep the momentum and not become discouraged or sidetracked?
Many years ago writing a book, publishing and becoming an entrepreneur was an idea. When I arrived in the Chicago area 20 years ago my goal was to meet people, create and live a meaningful life. I visited the city with my brother and we visited many historical sites, walked through the city and had a good time.
I was in nursing school at the time, life and kids happen and I am glad time went by because if it was not for that time spent focusing on life and work, I would not be able to produce the material I work on today.
Life has a unique way of working out, but Clarity, Vision, Goals, rest and living a full life was always a priority to me. I cannot say I regret the delay as it has allowed me time to spend with family, friends and define the brand and work I want to represent.
You see my vision never really changed, my approach and evaluating how to achieve what I set as a personal goal and vision did, but the core of what I wanted to create did not.
It is important to know and understand why?
When I understood why, the how did not matter because I knew and understood that every action, word, and energy spent will be spent on creating the vision I set for myself.
"Many of lives failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
Does this mean you have to give up on friends, family, and life? Not really, I don't.
It means you have to be selective about the projects you take on, your time and evaluate your blocks of productivity.
I am going to give you 4 Sure Fire-Ways to keep your personal momentum going and create the life and success you desire, on your terms.
1. Saying NO means YES, say no to anything that does not encourage your growth, personal progress, business, personal life, and momentum. It does not mean you have to block everyone out of your life, it means your time is precious and valuable and if you don't respect your personal life and time, you can't expect someone else to. Say yes to your personal life and growth and anything to pushes you to succeed.
2. Don't give up at the first NO, Okay, so I just said say no, so what is this about? Well, the one time you should not give up on the first no is when you are working on creating opportunities for yourself. If you hear a no, knock on the next door or come back later more prepared and ready. Can you imagine what all those authors, artists, athletes or all those successful people would have achieved if they decided to fold at the first no? Don't be shy, knock on the next door and say yes to opportunity.
3. Be Flexible, Your approach should be flexible, trends change, people and places vary, needs transform and in order to stay up to date, we must be able to flex with the times. It is also good to be flexible understanding that the vision and core of what you represent remain the same, however as you learn and grow your approach may vary. Learn to do Yoga with your goals, practicing flexibility allows you to arrive at the desired pose.
4. Change is Good, Nothing like doing the same thing over and over without generating results. BORING. Brands retain engagement through variation and flexibility without diverting from the core of their values. A welcome change, it is your friend, unleash your creativity, be bold, creative on your terms. Change is an opportunity to learn and grow and the best part, it does not have to be perfect, but it has to be effective.
